Golf Ball | Stan Curran 5k | Burnsall Classic | Honley 10k | Thames Gateway 60


A pair of Todmorden runners were in attendance on Wednesday evening at the Golf Ball Fell Race from Loveclough, with Marcel Ellison completing the 5 mile course in 43:42 for 22nd place and Clare Harris in 1:04:24 for 128th overall, and 24th woman.
The following evening saw a handful of Harriers take part in the Stan Curran 5k at Whitworth.
John Lloyd was the first Todmorden man around the two lap course of Cowm Reservoir, in a time of 16:48 which carried him into fourth place.
Paul Alexander stopped the clock at 19:53 for 22nd place, with Richard Butterwick in 31st with a time of 21:40.
Myra Wells finished in 29:19 for 53rd position and Ian Stansfield was 60th in a time of 36:11.
On Saturday Dave Collins finished in 47th position at the Burnsall Classic Fell Race, with a time of 19:52 over a steep 1.5 mile up and down course.
The inaugural Honley 10k Trail Race took place in heavy rain, with Richard Butterwick finishing in 52:30 for 30th place.
Jilly Davidson was racking up the miles in Kent at the Thames Gateway 60 mile Ultra Marathon, where she finished 3rd lady.

Richard Blakeley clinched the gold medal in the v70 age category of the English Fell
Championships, at the Turner Landscape Fell Race, by finishing first v70 on the day.

Jane Leonard also kept herself in the hunt for a medal in the women’s v55 category with a third place on the day.   

With the gold medal already destined for Lyn Thompson of Keswick AC who holds an unassailable lead, Jane finds herself in a three way fight for the remaining two medals, which will go down to the wire at the final counting race in September.

John Lloyd was the first Todmorden man to finish the 17km route, with his 44th place taking him into the senior men’s points for the first time.

Paul Brannigan finished in 87th position, with Dave Collins in 125th and Dan Taylor in 155th place.

Kath Brierley was Todmorden’s only other female entrant, finishing 27th woman, and 182nd overall.

On Wednesday evening, Marcel Ellison was 29th position at the Pilgrims Cross Fell Race in a time of 44:57, whilst Kevin Booth completed the 6 mile route in 53:43 for 90th place.

Five Harriers took to the roads of Saddleworth on the same evening for the 6 mile Road Race.  

Paul Alexander was the first Todmorden runner around the two lap course, finishing in 66th place with a time of 40:45, followed by Richard Butterwick in 44:31 for 104th position and Bohuslav Barlow in 189th place with a time of 51:13.

Myra Wells finished in 59:49 for 239th place and Ian Stansfield was 252nd in a time of 1:09:12.


The club Fell Championship moved onto the Howtown Fell Race on Saturday, with unseasonal weather bringing rain and mist to the Lake District course, leading to several runners going astray.

Craig Stansfield had no such problems as he finished in 8th place with a time of 2:32:33 over the 20 kilometre route.

Clare Harris finished in 37th place, and first v55 woman, with a time of 3:36:35 and David Leslie completed the course in 4:06:16.


A pair of Harriers were in attendance at the Darwen Gala Fell Race at the weekend, with Marcel Ellison finishing in 21st place in a time of 29:51, with Jack Crummett not far behind at 30:32 for 24th place.

Robin Tuddenham finished in 9th place at the 5 mile Rusland Show Fell Race with a time of 36:24.

Crow Hill Reverse Fell Race | Todmorden 5k | Whittle Pike | Boulsworth | Sierre Zinal


Todmorden Harriers were out in force at the Crow Hill Reverse Fell Race in Mytholmroyd on Tuesday, which attracted a record 123 entries.
Twenty four Harriers tackled the 4.5 mile route with Nick Barber finishing in fourth place in a time of 33:37, with Paul Brannigan in sixth place 15 seconds behind.
A strong descent lifted Dan Taylor into 14th place, a few seconds ahead of Peter Bowles in 15th position, one of many battles between club mates throughout the race.
Richard Blakeley claimed the v70 prize with 73rd place overall.
Todmorden won the women’s team prize, after Clare Harris finished fourth woman, winning the v50 prize in the process, with Jackie Holden in eighth place and Kirsty Pattern crossing the line ninth placed woman.
Race organiser Ali Mills, of Mills Physiotherapy, was pleased to announce that over £700 had been raised for Ovarian Cancer Research.

The final race in the Todmorden 5k series attracted over 100 runners to Centre Vale Park the following evening.
Robin Tuddenham finished fifth on the night in 17:21 to end the series in third place overall.
Martin Stork was 15th with a time of 18:24, followed by Dan Taylor in 18:44 for 21st position.  Paul Alexander stopped the clock at 19:35 for 31st place and Richard Butterwick was 65th in a time of 23:36.
Bev Wright was the first Todmorden woman crossing the line in 23:47, followed by Andrea Marshall in 26:08.  Myra Well finished first v55 woman in 27:58 and Ian Stansfield was first v70 man in 33:49. 

Marcel Ellison finished in 23rd place at Whittle Pike Fell Race on Wednesday, and went one better with 22nd place on Sunday at Boulsworth Fell Race.

At the World Police and Fire Games in Northern Ireland, Mel Siddall won the v50 age category of the Triathlon. The event was completed over a 1500m swim, a 37km cycle ride and a 10k run.

Craig Stansfield was also on his travels to Switzerland, finishing in 129th place out of over 1100 competitors at the 31km Sierre Zinal Mountain Race.

Cuerden Valley 10k | Cowm 5k | Todmorden 5k | Top O' Leach | Borrowdale

Cuerden Valley was host to the penultimate round of Todmorden Harriers’ Trail Championship on Thursday evening.  The Badger 10k organised by Lancashire Wildlife Trust attracted over 150 runners to the park.

Paul Brannigan was the first Todmorden runner, finishing in sixth place in a time of 39:06, followed by Dan Taylor in exactly 44 minutes for 22nd place.

Simon Galloway was the next Harrier to finish in 57th position at 48:52, with Peter Ehrhardt completing the scenic course in 58:28 and 115th place just ahead of Andrea Marshall in 119th, with a time of 59:21.


Todmorden Harriers were in the prizes at the Harry Kelly Cowm Reservoir 5k, with Mandy Goth finishing first v50 woman in 26:50 for 40th place overall and Myra Wells first v55 woman, and 49th overall,  in 28:37, followed by Kathy Bridger, second v50 woman and 53rd with a time of 31:25.

Richard Butterwick finished the two lap route in 27th place with a time of 22:48.


The club continued collecting prizes the following night at the third Todmorden 5k race in Centre Vale Park.
Robin Tuddenham finished in fifth overall and first v40 male, whilst Bev Wright claimed the corresponding v40 women’s prize, stopping the clock at 23:50.

Myra Wells was first v55 woman and Ian Stansfield first v70 male.

A quartet of Harriers kept up the successes at the Top O’Leach Fell Race on the same evening. The 8 km route from Cowpe was the first race of Rossendale Harriers mid-week series.

Dave Collins was the first Harrier home in 8th place, and first v55, with a time of 52:55. Marcel Ellison finished in 53:25 for 13th position.

Jackie Holden finished 2nd woman, in 1:08:18 just 27 seconds behind the ladies winner, and Kirsty Patten was 3rd woman in 1:11:14. 

A longer challenge was on offer at the weekend in the form of the Borrowdale Fell Race, with the 27km route featuring over 2000m of ascent over several Lakeland peaks including the summits of Scafell Pike and Great Gable.
Paul Hobbs was the first Todmorden runner back in a time of 3:55:27 for 86th place.
Jane Leonard finished sixth woman, and first v55, with a time of 4:21:19 and Darren Graham was 197th, in a time of 4:35:53.
