Todmorden Harriers enjoyed a taste of summer at the Saddleworth Fell Race on Sunday.
The 3 mile race quickly climbed from Greenfield up to the summit of Alderman Hill. A welcoming breeze provided some relief to the high temperatures on the traverse across the hill tops to the Pots and Pans stone.
Runners then plunged down a steep grassy bank to rejoin the upward route which they reversed back to the finish line at Tanners Mill.
Nick Barber led the way for the club with John Lloyd hot on his heels as they finished in 2nd and 3rd places respectively, behind winner Joe Crossfield of Halifax Harriers.
Dave Collins crossed the line in 12th place, with Richard Butterwick in 40th.
Helen Hodgkinson was the first Todmorden lady in 47th place, ahead of Helen Wilson in 52nd position.
Peter Marshall completed the turnout from the club with 56th position.
In the earlier junior races, Jack Crummett finished in 4th place in his age category, with Joseph and Jack Willis also running well in their races.
